- In his most recent longform piece it Was fascinating to read the lengths Jordan Mechner (Prince of Persia) and his colleagues went to recreate the detail of the Orient Express. Being told officially that all the blueprints and archives were destroyed but then discovering a group of railroad workers who'd kept it all. A later tip-off that one of the sleeper cars had survived and had been left in a place accessible to anyone who cared to go look.
- spbnick 402 days agoYes, that story was amazing, and so satisfying. But so are a lot of the stories Jimmy has recorded about the history of games. I've been reading his blog on and off for several years now, and still haven't read everything. Re-reading his posts is fun too. He always goes above and beyond, digging up sources, and writing about history and people, not just the games. Try the epic multipart history of Tetris, for example: https://www.filfre.net/2017/06/tales-of-the-mirror-world-par.../
- bronlund 400 days agoYeah, I love his pieces. He doesn't post that often, but when he does, you know it's going to be a treat :)
- I'm surprised the linked https://www.lightgunverter.com/ doesn't suggest a wiimote zapper adapter as an option. I remember them being fairly good for playing house of the dead on the wii.

- Thanks for the de-creaking!
- This feels like abuse of archive.org, it's being used as a filehost for this software with misleading titles e.g. "National Astronomy Day Photos 04292023", "Food recipes 06042022". Uploader has 286 items, they could at the least delete old versions and free up that storage space.
- Latest from the channel "Retro Game Mechanics Explained" which has many interesting videos.
- I totally agree, the explanations are detailed, easy to understand (at least for the initiated in hardware and binary logic, but I think he does a good job of introducing the gist of it before diving into the gritty details) and the presentation is excellent.
Youtube user Bisqwit has a nice series about password composing in retro games that I find in the same tier of interesting.
- Found his passwords playlist, thanks: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzLzYGEbdY5nEFQsxzFan...
