The original 5150 shipped with 16k and no floppy - just a cassette port. :ots of people upgraded with at least a single 160k floppy and 64k was possible with a max of 256k. Apple had nothing like that at the time for any price.

Once the XT shipped and Lotus 123 became available that became a killer app that was hard to beat.
