A good way to assuage your worries is ask yourself if it's the middle of the night in Europe. If it is then I'm probably asleep and not fixing the site!

Yes. At around 0100 Lisbon time. It came back on line when I woke up at around 0600 and saw that it was offline.

Thanks! There's still some work to do on mobile but it is useable now. Thanks for being a member!

Mobile appears to work great. I have had no real issues.

Thank you. I like it here.

Not clear to me that this is retro computing. The oldest platform here is macOS 10.7 which is from 2011.

Of course this is retrocomputing … have you tried running current versions of Safari or Chrome under macOS 10.7? They simply won’t work. The speed at which obsolescence and lack of support occurs in regards to hardware and software is increasing. Twelve year old software is ancient, especially in the eyes of Apple.

        Fair enough.

Yes. I just going with a summary of what the thrust of the article was about. Explaining why an arcade machine with custom and dedicated sound could be better than a general purpose home machine. While the 8-bit Atari game of missile command is faithful and good - it’s subtly inferior to the standup machine. Always fascinated me to be honest but it makes sense

I have had exactly this experience with old hardware from eBay. I’ve got one Windows 95 machine that someone sold and the entire hard drive is full of work and personal stuff.

Same, restoring a Macintosh SE FDHD atm that I bought from a traditional auction house.

Got it booting and the HD is filled with that previous owners CV and architectural drawings/letters for a long dead company in the Midlands (UK). The previous owner had died a few months before and his entire house contents were being auctioned.

I'll make an image of the HD and then replace it with something less ear-damaging... feels weird though.
