- I actually have an ACT Apricot PC (the one with the LCD softkeys on the keyboard) somewhere...
- It’s not perfect yet. In particular, I am going to rip out the use of <ol> for the stories and replace with <table> because fighting CSS across platforms to make everything line up when using an ordered list is such a waste of time.
- Done!
- What's the best way to get your attention when we need fixes like that? You're the new dang now :)
- Well, I am reading all the comments since there aren't that many so far... but if you really, really need to email me then [email protected] works. I'll add that to my profile.
- Good thing to submit as a story!
- Good luck!
- Space separated. I'll add that to the notes!
- I’ve long wanted a site like this and so I’m really happy so many others have signed up and are contributing. I wanted something that was not technology specific and that mixed retro gaming and computing as these are worlds that overlap and feed each other.
Thank you to everyone who has participated so far and helped build the site. I’m really grateful to all of you.
Let’s build a fun, supportive and retro community together.
- Can you take a look at the rendering of the site on mobile phones when you get a chance? On Android/Firefox, the upvote arrow is so small, it is unclickable unless I zoom-in by a lot. Also, the font size of the top header bar is far too small. The original HN site does not have these problems.
- Yes, I know. It sucks. It's being worked on. I just committed support for tags (https://twostopbits.com/item?id=474) and my next task is to make the mobile experience useable.
- I will do my best to popularize the site but it's definitely the community that'll make it work. I am incredibly grateful and humbled to see all the people who have created accounts, posted stories, and commented here. It's incredible.
I personally love retro computing and have wanted something like this for a while. I hope we can build this up into a positive, fun community who love retro computing and gaming. And I appreciate everyone's efforts so far.
I've just made the source code available (see https://twostopbits.com/item?id=251) so that people can contribute directly the site. But the best contributions will be stories, votes and comments!
Thank you and best wishes.
- Thank you. I am currently 99% done with support for tagging stories. That way it'll be possible to filter on 8bit or z80 or zelda or gameboy or whatever people want.
- I've fixed the URL.

Could never find any software for them, except for hacking up my own.
Sad to find out recently that Simon Sheppard who was one of the biggest hackers on Sirius 1 / ACT etc and sold almost all the third-party software and hardware in the 80s and 90s turned out to be a little, (how can I put this?) unusual and is currently in prison:
