What dark mode are you using? I'm happy to change the CSS but wasn't aware this was a problem.

I just go to my profile page by clicking on my username, and in the theme dropdown, I select "dark" and then click "update" (side note: regardless of the current selection, the theme dropdown always reverts to "default", but the theme does apply correctly)

Note to self that the theme selection doesn't stick because the choice function in app.srv has no way of knowing which of the choices was selected. Needs a total rethink.

Ah. I see that now. I'll take a look at why. Dark Mode really is dark!

Your sins are forgiven and I'm going to add some automatic "fixing" of common errors like that.

Yes. I've been using it to sort out some things like "80386" "386" "i386"

I have no plan to shut down this site because of the UK Online Safety Act. If necessary I'll take legal advice on how to comply but this site has some important attributes that make it unsuitable for the sort of scum who harm children:

    1. We don't allow images to be posted.

    2. There are no private chats.

    3. It is moderated.

I think the onerous requirements of the act are that you have to have assessement, policy, contact to remove content etc. no matter how rare or implausible.

TBH - I have always worried that someone would post a link to illegal^h^h^h^h^h^h questionable MAME or NES roms. While the good citizens of our group will abide, not listing it in a policy link could get us hung.

I super doubt that. I don't think my collection is significant in any way. I decided long ago that I would collect very few computers and that they would have to be things that I personally used and care about. So, I have the following:

    KIM-1

    Sharp MZ-80K

    Research Machines 380Z

    Research Machines 480Z

BBC Micro Model B (my original machine)

    OLPC XO-1 (my original machine)

    Minitel 1b

    Minitel 2

IBM ThinkPad 701c (the one I did a complete restoration on)

And that's it. These are all in working order because I keep them that way. Truly believe that keeping these machines alive it important.

My apologies. My presumption was based on a fever dream from what I know of the many ex microsofties from U. Waterloo and elsewhere in Canada that have piles of retro gear. Eg. Vax 11/780 and two PDP in basement and garage and 20+ workstations from their career at MS.

I am glad you keep a curated set of devices.

      • jgrahamc 135 days ago
Oh, I know people like that! I just took a different path.
  • jgrahamc 135 days ago | parent | on: Archiving hardware projects
More than anything this is so I don't have to go find all the right connectors the next time I want to use these devices. That drives me crazy.

Yes, I wanted to use one of his cards and he fell ill. RIP Bob!

    :-)

Thanks for being part of it. It's the users that make it what it is. I'm just keeping an eye on the server and the code!

Cheers, bmonkey325! I'll add the year for people who want to specify a year.
