Somehow I don't think I ever saw RIP (or IGS) in action on a BBS, I might have always said no not understanding what it was (or whatever clients I used didn't support it).

Though presumably v.44 protocols would compress ANSI graphics text reasonably well?

Some genuinely great games being worked on for Amiga in 2024. Cecconoid was great too.

Wow, that's almost as old a website as this one:

My username is a oblique reference to HHGTTG, so it had some effect on me. :)

    Dirk Gently was underrated though.

As usual, the antiquarian covers a lot of ground (partly around Adam's books), but does talk about the disappointing Starship Titanic game and how Adams' fans felt about his other work.

He later regretted the tone of Mostly Harmless and wanted to revisit with another book (but died before he began serious work on it).

To be fair that was my submission not the original article (typo and all)

Warts and all made a lot of people read the article.

This seems like some kind of magic.

Yeah, I don't believe any of this until I see it running on my trusty old A2000 ;-)

Duke nukem forever. Amiga edition …
  • n3ffo 320 days ago | parent | on: Ghosts in the ROM
Some many crazy bits here: - someone left a Mac SE on the sidewalk (this was 2012) - they had spare ROM spare for 1bit images (256kb ROM) - nobody stopped them

Mark's site has a bit more technical a break down as well (and has done some great work with BBC Micros)

I had. 50” hitachi diamondscan from this era that was about the same weight. My niece killed the screen with duck hunt

        What's a Diamondscan?

I had the 40" Sony CRT. It took 3 of us to lift that thing. I bought it just for lightgun games.

4:3 rear projector 50” tv of the same era. 3 colour tubes to composite and project each colour plane. Just a big, bulky, dumb tv. I only noted it because it had the same mass as the tube tv you had.it took 3 persons to cart it up the 2 flights of steps into my apartment.
