At least a few artists received recognition in
"The Art of Atari" coffee table book from a few years back. Mostly covers the 2600 era cartridge art but still stunning
I remember when I was in the game biz and I was interviewing artists and one guy had a reel of Virtua Hamster in his portfolio.. and nobody had seen anything of the game at that point, and wouldn't for another decade.
I can tell you that a lot of us in the biz have seen a lot more than those outside. I don't want to say there isn't a video game "Illuminati", but if you know what the initials on the back of this sign stand for, then you know what I'm talking about :)
