    Yes, that was the sound. First the fan whirring, then the BIOS beep, then the HD cracks with odd pauses. But if I recall correctly, once Windows 95 was there, it was there. Everything was available. With Win 11, dock icons take a minute to show up, apps won’t start yet because the system is still loading in the background. It pretends to be attentive, but is still busy.

    I kinda miss the Windows 95 loader screen. I used to replace it with a custom image that had a color palette animation as well.

      I saw all manner of Window XP pirated edition boot screens, but I don't think I remember seeing any mods to the boot screen in Windows 95. But then again, I do live in Canada where films with colour and sound are a recent phenomenon.

    Adjacent to all the people who complain how long it takes to boot a Pv, I found this sequence oddly satisfying. I think I have viewed this clip a good 6 or 7 times.
