I went down a VIC-20 rabbit hole. Apparently there are two areas where you can map in expansion RAM, one is 32KB and the other area is 3KB. And so some expansion packs are 35KB (both 32KB + 3KB in one cart) to upgrade the VIC-20 to the maximum possible.
