    i've always thought there was a market for turning all those obsolete fax machines into cheap thermal printers for infrequent home use. would be better than landfill.

    or an old zx spectrum thermal printer. i don't need quality, just a cheap way to print out a small amount of things.

    i do have a laser i use for printing <20-30 pages a year. it just seems a waste of space for the low page count.

      I’ve owned two laser printers

      - HP Laser Jet III+

      - Brother 20170W

      I hope the Brother lasts as long as the the great HP did. That would take me to 2028. The HP still worked but I had mined out the source of consumables in 2007. I hold my breath for the Brother. Alas, I have watched the ink schennaanigans and vowed to stay as far away from modern printers as I can.

    My complicated relationship with printers can be summarized by the first paragraph of the article. It can be visualized by the cut scene in “Office Space” where revenge is taken on a single sheet feed HP printer. “PC Load Letter” is a curse word.

    Also. This tech is cool AF and so ingenious.
