For those with a bit more security knowledge. What is the point of blacking out the serial number on the hard drives in the article. Am I missing something for how that might be linked to a specific user somehow?
Also cool to see - I am guessing as the number of active macbooks that can be user upgradeable ages out - OWC is likely to find limited sales of their products.
IIRC it had something to do with keeping people from reusing the photos/serial numbers in scams on eBay and the like. It's been years since I learned to start doing that and I don't remember the specifics. It might have been unnecessary in my case.
