I kind of lost faith in 8-bit guy when he started to restore a "rare" computer and then proceeded to damage the case because he couldn't be bothered to go to a hardware store and buy the correct screw-driver-bit to open the case.

I felt so sorry for the person who donated the machine thinking it was going to a good home.

Hopefully he was just having a brain fart moment like we all do... but it left a bad taste.

It was a mistake that happened a long time ago. It's time to get over it.

Adrian's Digital Basement (https://www.youtube.com/user/craig1black/videos) also does a lot of restoration---it's primarily his focus.

TBH I find them both far less enjoyable than Noel's Retro Lab (https://www.youtube.com/@NoelsRetroLab), who is probably the last hold out on youtube against the 'it's all about me!' style that every other channel seems to have adopted.

For classic arcade game and pinball repair, my guilty pleasure is : https://youtube.com/@LyonsArcade

How they intuit repairs with the schematics for the machine. Test modes and tweaking displays is just fascinating. Trained as a bit twiddler I almost believe that I could do some this. On other channels, when they break out the oscilloscope I’m left thinking. “What ?!?!?!” :-)
