The news.arc file is wild. Basically the whole site is contained in that one file. 3000 lines of goodness to keep in your head.

    This reminds me of this:

I love this. I'm building a community site right now (for magazines) and doing the same - hacking the code each day to add features. Move fast and break things. It's nice to be a one-man shop.

(I just spent a few days trying to make my site work nicely on mobile too -- it's too easy to forget when you're developing on a nice desktop display)

TFA didn't mention what the multitasking version of DOS was, so I had to look it up:

    Ha! Good find.

As a former game dev, I can tell you there are a lot of hidden messages in video games. Some pretty derogatory. There is one obvious one hidden in GTA: San Andreas but I can only find one guy who has found it...

Every few months I go down a rabbit hole and lose a whole evening to The Cutting Room Floor: https://tcrf.net/The_Cutting_Room_Floor

That's a great site, thank you!

Sometimes the features aren't locked-out, it's just that no-one ever figured out how to access them. I think it was an NBA or NFL game a few days ago that someone found two new characters that were playable the whole time?

    This is mental!

Here's a great one for Atari 8-bits too:

It truly is an astonishing feat!

Here's a great thread on the work being done to get a Wolfenstein/DOOM-alike running on another neat 8-bit platform, the Oric Atmos .. check out the video demos in this thread (which is incidentally interesting on its own weight):

The QuickTime player was truly horrible. I wanted to self-harm every time I was forced to use it to play some .mov file.

This is an unbelievable resource. This guy is a beast. Even hacking the DLLs to fix the LUTs. Thank you for posting this :)

This algorithm killed me even when it was 2D on a 2D screen with 3D characters back in the 90s. And I had no-one to help as there was no Internet access and no-one really developing online in those days.
