A highly performant C compiler on the 6502 is certainly doing the Lord's work, but I'd still rather write in assembly.

If I need to write on the metal - I prefer to use a Macro Assembler like the Atari Macro Assembler or a bespoke cross assembler. I no longer have the mental focus to keep all the flags and state in my head as I did in my teens and twenties.

Reminiscent of SNES DOOM, where the coprocessor on the cartridge is basically doing the work.

I'd like one for the 128, please (especially the 128D).

There's a final stretch goal for a keyboard case with a DB25 connector!

I had a 95LX. I upgraded from there to a Palm m505, which although the 95LX could do more theoretically, was more portable and quicker to work with. To paraphrase what they say about cameras, the best computer is the one you've got with you.

    No Data Recorder, I assume?
    • wavynavy 545 days ago
No. I don’t think it ever occurred to me to attach a cassette recorder. I should dig up the manual to see whether they had instructions on setting up a data recording device.

The Pyuuta can use a regular tape deck, but the Tutor's Data Recorder is apparently "special" since I wasn't able to get it to accept an audio signal. The tape connector is very simple, just a 5-pin DIN terminating in 1/8" mono jacks, one for tape in and one for tape out. http://www.floodgap.com/retrobits/tomy/hardware.html#tcable

Thanks! (and for the typo spot)

An outstanding port. People can't believe it's a Commodore 64.

Venix/PRO will always be Venix to me, though (on my DEC PRO 380).

The code that made this work on 80286 processors was something else.
  • classichasclass 584 days ago | parent | on: The History of the UNIX License Plate
I've got this plate, but mine is from the Compaq era (making it both rarer and less desirable).

This is neat, but while the article mentions Alpha Micro Videotrax as a competitor, VHS was the primary backup mechanism for Alpha Micro almost since the beginning (or at least around the AM-1000).
